Creatinine Converter

Creatinine is a waste product produced by muscles from the breakdown of creatine. It is filtered from the blood by the kidneys and excreted in urine. Serum creatinine levels are a key indicator of kidney function - elevated levels may indicate impaired kidney filtration. Normal creatinine ranges are 0.6-1.2 mg/dL (53-106 µmol/L) for adults, though values vary by age, sex, and muscle mass. The US typically uses mg/dL, while SI units (µmol/L) are standard in Europe and most other countries. The conversion factor is 88.4: to convert mg/dL to µmol/L, multiply by 88.4. Creatinine is also used to calculate the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), which is a more accurate measure of kidney function.
